talked to independent pharmacist today...no major revelations but below are a couple of interesting tid bits..
--he was a 38 year old second generation pharmacist son working in the bus his father started..
---in his view the three top , and dominant generics companies, in Canada are Apotex, Teva, and Cobalt (subsidiary of Actavis).. He felt with a 48 drug portfolio of the main generics used in Canada, that NPH would have a sufficient sized portfolio to compete with the big three ...
--only apotex is a canadian headquatered co and based in Ontario.. the others are Israel and Ireland..
--he said , and after hearing my rough description, he would consider using NPH... he seemed to like the idea of buying from a Western Canadian headquarted co... not International or Eastern based..
--he said there are some smaller companies selling 6 generics but he turns them away because their portfolio is too small and this would cause dealing with too many suppiers..
---some independendts have teamed up into smallish buying groups..but you can still deal direct at store level or through the central buying group..
---I got the feeling that relationships and salesmanship is important with this pharmacist..
All in all, I got the feeling if I had a sales kit I could have made the first sale myself, there on the spot... not scientific but you get the idea...
