Every investment has a certain level of risk, which could be considered gambling. I think LRE shareholders are investing knowing the risk.
There may not be a V shape recovery in oil but it;s not required. A gradual increase in price will go a long ay in helping oil balance sheets. We need another few months of low prices to wash out surplus production. 
Why do you feel the balance sheet is in disarray? The debt appears managable, they have some good hedges and still have flexibility to cut the dividend. CDN dollar should continue lower which will help as well.
