Austin-based Mood Media Corporation--best known for providing in-store music and advertising--said today that more than 300,000 retail and restaurant locations are now sending out "audio beacons" for Shazam, which help link marketers with their clients. The technology sends out an audio-based digital watermark, which can be recognized by mobile apps like Shazam, and offer up in-store mobile marketing, coupons, and more. Shazam is the popular mobile app which can recognize and identify music, and which is used by the mobile generation for figuring out music track names and artists.
