RE:Looking much better for NBD?ahs said "I got out of both NBD and ANS a few months ago after watching OSB go down down down. But I think after today NBD has shown some real smarts, and with a bit better OSB pricing they could become a real force in this market. The addition of ANS should provide some cost cutting benefits and expand the markets of both companies. Surely the new house and reno markets will see some upside this year and NBD will be well positioned to take advantage. Now if only I could get my shares back at the price I sold them. "
I owned a few shares and was down most of the time, and managed to get out at break even. I wouldn't put much weight into this story however. From Canada's POV, the US economy is looking strong but I think eventually, they will get some bad news again, eg, FEd rate increase will spook the markets, Lots of structural weakness in the US economy such as low labour force participation, high national debt levels etc. QE has not created the type of growth needed to really spur econ. activity so now what. They are still just delaying the inevitable. IMO, was are in the midst of a long-term (20 years) global period of stagnation so I'm backing off new equity investing and being very defensive for the short-to-medium term
