Not true.....there are many that hold long positions as an investor.....I have a few positions in several stocks that I have had for very long time.....and some I don't no more.....fundamentals change, the stock underperforms , the sector underperforms whatever the reason , I snip.....when you say many diversify, most likely....but many here will only post on this one board and will show no other stocks in their portfolio so A. they don't have any B. they use other ids ........as for buying into stocks, and buying on a run -up, it works.....but it depends what you a re buying also....buying up the oil sector when it was running up prior to the collaspe caught many......buying on the way down caught even more.........I would never recommend buying at the high...I would recommend waiting for a possible dip....and if the stock has know pattern shown in a chart to go much higher, then buying then would be good idea....I just would not recommend buying a stock for long term investing when the past 1-2 years of performance is poor/pathetic...........so maybe you no like what I shared.......maybe share your 2008 and 2009 plan.......I luv to learn Domovyk!!! I really do.....

It has some actual meet to it rather than some peoples babble about the sky is falling or its going to the moon in the next couple of days.  I am keeping this brief as I have to go right now but I will go into Contrarian investing at a later time.  but in short,  2008 - 2009 was about diversifying like crazy and buying things driven down too low like all of the Canadian Banks and TCK, Bombardier and on and on.  Plus some pennies that also got hit harder than deserved.  Had some that lost but gains far out stripped losses. Funny greatest losses came from financial advisor, web advisors and others that I listened too.  Best came from things I researched after others put them on my radar.  That is why I repeatedly tell people to do their own research.  Potash should go up as the population rises but which companies survive the time know one knows so I invest a little in a lot of companies when they are driven down.  And sell if the price goes up so much that I think it is too large a portion of my holdings for the risk.  Or of course if I see a better opportunity.  But thank you again for taking the time to really reply to one of my post and not just attack.  I will try to return the favor.
