Proprietary Protection
Slyce is working to build a significant brand and reputation around the “Slyce” name and
maintains a trademark registration for “Slyce” which provides it with certain exclusive rights.
Slyce must renew this trademark on or before January 15, 2029.
Slyce currently protects its intangible intellectual property through patents pending, trademarks,
trade secrets and copyright legislation.
Slyce has filed the following patent applications in the United States and Canada:
(i) US 13/297,546 – Point of Interest Tracking with Specific Retailer Accreditation; and
(ii) US 61/736,642 – System and Method for Categorizing an Image. As at the date hereof,
these patent applications are both in patent pending status.
US 13/297,546 allows the Slyce technology to integrate into an advertiser’s images, providing a
location based recognition system. It allows for the presenter of an image to be given a credit
from a purchase made if a consumer purchased directly from the image, regardless of location.
US 61/736,642 is a system and method by which the Slyce machine learning system
categorizes and manages a database of images.
In addition to patent protection, the source codes for Slyce’s software are protected as trade
secrets and as unpublished copyright works. Certain modules of Slyce’s products make use of
or incorporate open source software (being source code that is in the public domain and that is
not proprietary). Slyce intends to apply for patents and trademarks where possible and cost
effective.
