Flyht's AFIRS Inastallation and Operating Costs

Flyht's AFIRS Inastallation and Operating Costshttps://www.scmp.com/business/companies/article/1708802/cost-biggest-obstacle-real-time-flight-tracking

In case of an emergency, an airline could require flight information received by Flyht via the satellite system Iridium, such as location and the health of aircraft components, be streamed live - at the cost of US$10 a minute, Bradley said. There is also a US$100 monthly fee per aircraft for the service and an initial US$50,000 to install Flyht's equipment box in the cockpit.

Comparing that to the to the multi-million dollar cost of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and other recent search operations conducted to locate lost planes, the cost/benefit of implementing laws requiring airlines to improve their asset tracking and flight data retrieval capabilities for the governments who got stuck with the bill seems like a no brainer.
