RE:Flyht's AFIRS Inastallation and Operating CostsI don't think you will get many here who will argue the point. (except for the unwashed, of course). Many of the airlines, however, do not seem to get it. Besides what you have said, Flyht claims that the fuel savings alone, if this capability is included, will pay for the equipment in a few months. They are too focussed on the quarterly bottom line and pleasing their shareholders.

Many, I believe, are waiting for mandating or at least for the mandating rules, so they can pick the cheapest option. I believe this has contibuted to the slowing down of (publicized) orders we have witnessed in the last year.

Mandating will happen one day, and I believe the final rules will be much stronger than ICAO's recommendations. Until then, we may have to wait.
