Not even 2.5x??  Well that obviously depends on what average you are using.

According to Stockwatch, the average volume over the last 90 days is a little less than 92k.

Today's volume was 272k so it's pretty close to 3x if you use Stockwatch's data over the last 90 days.  But does it really matter whether it's 2.45x or 2.95x??  Fact is the volume was higher than normal on a down day period.
