$850 million Apple-First Solar farm and vanadium
This investment by Apple and First Solar announced yesterday may be transformational for vanadium. Although there is no mentioning of vanadium anywhere in the Press Release, I read today that the power generated in this solar energy farm will be returned to the grid.
This is not an investment of Apple to power its plant or offices in California. This is an investment of Apple in renewable energy.
Knowing the influence Apple has, it is not difficult to believe that there will be other followers in investment in renewable energy and perhaps this may be the push that the vanadium redox batteries technology needs to become mainstream.
