Bentek-2/17/2015 | 5:27 AM

Bentek-2/17/2015 | 5:27 AMCanadian Observer - Cold snap sets demand record, forces elevated storage pulls Bentek estimates that record low temperatures across the eastern portion of Canada pushed regional demand to slightly above 8.8 Bcf/d on Sunday, ...which is roughly 3.5 Bcf/d above the mid-February average and bests the previous record of slightly less than 8.8 Bcf/d set in January 2014. Weather data indicates that Toronto low temperatures reached nearly 12 degrees below zero Fahrenheit on Sunday, which is the lowest recorded reading since the beginning of 2005. As a result, Toronto average temperatures failed to climb above -5 degrees, which also marks the weakest such figure in ten years. In order to compensate for the surge in demand, Bentek estimates that East Canada storage withdrawals climbed to more than 4.9 Bcf/d Sunday, 2.0 Bcf/d above the previous 7-day average and the eighth strongest such pull since 2005. 2/17/2015 | 5:27 AM
