You folks in North America don't get it. Putin is fighting in the Ukraine to divert attention away from problems in Russia and hence make sure he remains in power.  To an average Russian, they are fighting the US/ Evil West in the Ukraine.  The US is the enemy, this is message the media in Russia keeps on spreading, day in, day out.  Putin will not stop until the borders of Novo Rossija are extended to match those of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. He does not give a damn about some piece treaty he DID NOT SIGN, btw.
