The agreement was, somewhat implausibly, billed as a victory for both sides. It will kick in if the Greek government, led by prime minister Alexis Tsipras, submits a list of proposed economic reforms by Monday. If approved by the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, billions of euros from the existing bailout program will be released to prevent the Greek government from running out of money in the next few months. Crucially, the Greek banks would receive up to euros 10.9-billion in funds to bolster their capital.
