FP says Junex discovery a "milestone event" 2015-02-26 09:04 ET - In the News Also In the News (C-PCQ) Petrolympic Ltd Also In the News (C-PEA) Petrolia Inc The Financial Post reports in its Thursday, Feb. 26, edition that Junex ($1.45) has struck crude oil in the Gaspe region of Quebec, raising the prospects of commercial oil production from the province as early as 2016. The Post's Yadullah Hussain writes that chief executive officer Peter Dorrins says: "This is a milestone event not just for us, but also for the province. ... The 316 barrels per day of oil production rate is the highest oil production rate seen so far in Quebec." The Post says it is a modest start by any measure. Junex has soared 209 per cent this year on the TSX Venture Exchange, and also lifted the shares of peers Petrolia (73 cents) and Petrolympic (36 cents). Michael Binnion, head of Quebec's oil and gas lobby, says, "It's very positive symbolically that they made a discovery." He notes the industry has made several natural gas discoveries as well. Mr. Binnion says: "We are saying you can create an industry here. If there is one discovery, there is likely to be more. And here's another one that may not be huge, but it's economic." It took Junex more than 17 years to prove up the reserves and it was the company's first attempt at horizontal drilling on the site that made the difference.
