However, before you start bandying around numbers like $9,000/tonne and up, you need to consider the cost of making that coated graphite. The coating process is very expensive, the uncoated spherical graphite sells for only $4,000/tonne. Yields in the spheroidization process are around 50%, so you need 2 tonnes of graphite to make 1 tonne of spherical graphite. That brings the value down to $2,000/tonne before spheroidization.
