Another 12 teachers missing in Guerrero

Another 12 teachers missing in GuerreroFebruary 27, 2015  https://www.misna.org/en/other/clashes-in-acapulco-12-teachers-missing-27-02-2015-813.html

A Mexican teachers group has reported the disappearance of 12 colleagues and the abuse suffered by four female teachers by police during clashes on Tuesday in the port city of Acapulco, which left one dead and dozens injured.

Manuel Salvador Rosas, member of the political commission of the State Coordination of Education Workers of Guerrero (CETEG) – the same State where 43 students of the Ayotzinapa Rural teachers college disappeared on September 26 – announced that a formal report has been filed. “Now they are no longer only 43. Since the crackdown in Iguala, now also 12 teachers are nowhere to be found. They are not at home and not under arrest”, he told Radio Fórmula. “Four teachers said they were raped during the police crackdown”, added Rosas. While in regard to the retired teacher killed in Tuesday’s clashes, Claudio Castillo, 65, Rosas rejected the police version that he had been ran over. “He was leading the rally and never left his vehicle, until the police pulled him down and beat him. He was a disabled person, and was not self-sufficient in his movements”.

On Tuesday, after blocking the highway that takes to the Acapulco airport demanding back-pay following futile negotiations with authorities, a group of teachers commandeered a bus and drove it into police lines, sparking violent clashes. An investigation is underway.
