IMO, it would be foolhardy for a bidder to bid for the company, lock, stock and barrel, at that would mean that, along with assets, they'd be picking up the liabilities. Much simpler, safer and saner to bid only on the assets which have value in the operation of the Rice Lake Mining complex (which, according to its latest September 30, 2014, financials, has been running at a loss due to the debt-financing costs and the lower price of gold). ]

The shareholders remain within the worthless assets and the liabilities held by the shell. However, shares in a non-trading company aren't of much value.
