(Download high res) WHITEHORSE—The Government of Yukon and the Kluane First Nation have signed a $583,000 agreement to collect geophysical data via an airborne survey of a portion of the Kluane Ranges. “This survey work is important because there is very little geophysical data for the area,” Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent said. “The new data will give a better understanding of the mineral potential of the region by defining its basic geology. The data collected will be available to the public at no cost through the Yukon Geological Survey website.” The survey is funded with $83,000 from the Kluane First Nation and $500,000 from the Yukon Geological Survey through CanNor’s Strategic Investments in Northern Economic Development program. The survey area is southeast of the Donjek River and west of the Alaska Highway, a region known for its prospective nickel-copper-platinum group deposits.
