investqc - Detecting the type of 3D stream may be "trivial". So is converting a 3D picture to 2D. Yet Sensio holds patents on both. And not every 3DTV has the technology to do it. I was told by SIO a long time ago that 3DGO! was being built with Autodetect built into the 3DGO! software. If you are 100% sure that's not the case my apologies (I guess very soon I'll be able to see for myself when 3DGO! launches in Canada).

And with respect to the Hi-Fi format you are missing the point. Outside of Vizio, you are right that they never were able to get the major CEs to pay upfront for the Hi-Fi format. That is exactly why the new universal format is key. Now the CEs don't have to pay upfront and we don't have to wait 6-18 months for chips to be installed in new TVs. With the new universal Hi-Fi format we supposedly still have a superior format, that can easily be implemented into virtually any streaming device in the world, and the CEs pay over time via a reduced % of the rental revenue. At least that was the idea. Whether the revenue split is reduced or not really doesn't matter to me. The fact that 3DGO! can now be easily ported to any streaming device is what is getting people excited again. Sensio recognized the situation (that CEs weren't forking over the cash upfront), made a strategic shift in response, and now seem to be on track again. Dwelling on what could have been 3-4 years ago is not productive.
