RE:dividends from 2004-2014I agree completely.
What is also interesting is data that
TSX:BNS' s 10-Year Dividend Yield Range Min: 2.55 Max: 7.81 and Current: 4.14 puts it above the average of 3.5%, and close to a 5 year high
The Bank of Nova Scotia Annual Data sinnce 2005, below shows the steady, sustained increaase
| Oct05 | Oct06 | Oct07 | Oct08 | Oct09 | Oct10 | Oct11 | Oct12 | Oct13 | Oct14 |
Dividends Per Share | 1.32 | 1.50 | 1.74 | 1.92 | 1.96 | 1.96 | 2.05 | 2.19 | 2.39 | 2.56 |
Studies have shown that long term investors who purchase and have a drop in SP, that use DRIP, actually do as well as, or better than those who purchase and dont have a drop.
So we should hope for a further decline!
It is interesting that if we truly focus on dividends, price fluctuations matter little, and value/income help keep one focused, invested, and investing further.
