Lapa Mine - might be the goal for Val d`Or propertiesI read in the Sleepy technical report that the average historical drill hole on Alexandria`s Val d`Or properties were only 150 metre long. Given the neighberhood (history and recent developments) and size of property, it would suggest significant opportunities still remain to make sizeable gold (gold-copper) discoveries.
A prime example is recent exploration developments by Agnico at its Lapa Mine (along the Cadillac Break). Lapa has shown us that there is considerable potential below 500 metres depth (in the neighborhood, along the Cadillac Break). Lapa`s Contact Zone is the major economic lens of mineralization on the property that has been traced for up to 600 metres, horizontally, and over 1,000 metres vertically. The zone is currently open at depth in all directions.
I think the term ``contact`` refers to the point of the intrusion (intruded rock into the host rock).
I don`t think the Contract Zone started until about 450 - 500 metres vertical depth. I think there is another zone (Tonawanda Zone) above, but not sure if it is located beside or directly above. Either way, the Contact Zone is a completely separate zone and, more importantly, it is a major economic lens. The fact that this zone started at such depth is positive (or at least provides possibilities) for companies with strong gold showings or/and near-surface gold deposits along the Cadillac Break - that have not been drilled at depth as yet.
I think eventually Alexandria (much further down the road) will need to launch deep drilling programs at both Akasaba and Sleepy to test out these possibilities.
