RE:RE:Cipher should start an Absorica price war to Incr profit$ Do you know marketing?
1--Production costs, do you know how much R&D goes into developing an approved drug? Do you even know the process and capital required to adjust doses to be effective. The costs have to be recuperated, not to mention that its a time consuming and again takes $$$ They also have a time frame to get those R&D costs back.
2--Fixed costs do you think with a flip of a switch manufacturing a new dose size has no impact.
3-- do you have a link that it costs them .50 to make the pills.
4-- If the patent is safe for the forseable future why in you own word would you lower the costs of the "best in class" medication"
5-- Why start a production war when you are the best and let your standards fall (Ferrari vs Fiat). They are gaining market share, maybe not as fast as you want but at the rate the market wants
6-- Do you even know how desperate it sounds if you have the "best in class" and have to lower your price. If Cipher can lower their price the same can be said of their competitors, so now you have a race to the bottom which is not helpful for anyone.
7--So you know that for certain that that with a flip of a switch a whole new line can be swithched? Have you ever visited a plant. You don't flip a switch and start making a new pill. Machines have to be shut down, sterilized, new formula programed with new ingerdients pass inspection. (remember their recent closures)
8--you want a good example use Viagra, they were first to market two other joined shortly after, not once did they lower their price until the patent expired I believe it was last year. Once that happened they then lowered their price to generic version. That is how it works, you don't cheapen your "best in class" at the beginning of its life cycle, you do it at the end.
9--even the generic version when it will appear will not be a 100% identical version.
Starting a price war is not in the interest of anybody, it sounds of desperation and when you have "the best in class" that is not the perception you want. Plus there are other consequences.
Lastly no I'm not styless, I have owned Cipher since it went public, the ups and downs, their first FDA refusal and all. I just don't get all emotional when people state there opinions whether they like the company or not. I don't really care nor does a public board influence my decisions.
