Mr. Schuster brings more than 13 years of global regulatory, intellectual property and corporate acquisition expertise to expanded role

VANCOUVER, March 19, 2015 /CNW/ - Avigilon Corporation ("Avigilon") (TSX:AVO), a leading global provider of end-to-end security solutions, today announced the promotion of Joel Schuster to chief legal officer, senior vice president and corporate secretary. Mr. Schuster leads Avigilon's global corporate governance and international tax compliance, in addition to overseeing the company's growing legal team in pursuit of mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property generation.

Mr. Schuster joined Avigilon in October 2013 and has provided valuable legal guidance and leadership in a series of key transactions for Avigilon including:

• Securing $169 million in equity financing
• Acquiring VideoIQ, Inc. in November 2013 for $32 million
• Acquiring the patent portfolios of ObjectVideo, Inc., Behavioral Recognition Systems, Inc., FaceDouble Incorporated, ITS7 Pty Ltd. and VideoMining Corporation for total of $93.7 million
• Purchasing Avigilon's future global headquarters for $42 million, announced in February 2015

Prior to joining Avigilon, Mr. Schuster served as the general counsel and corporate secretary for three Vancouver-based public corporations. Mr. Schuster has practiced at top law firms in the United States and Canada, and is admitted to the bars of British Columbia and Massachusetts. He holds degrees in law and political science from theUniversity of Toronto.
