Terry Matthews/Tutela/Edgewater

Terry Matthews/Tutela/EdgewaterSir Terry Matthews is the chairman of Wesley Clover and Tutela Technologies is one of their portfolio companies.

Edgewater Wireless partnered with Tutela in December 2013.

“The partnership, designed to extend the capabilities of Edgewater’s WiFi3 ™ solutions by delivering enhanced customer experience monitoring and location based services to deliver improved quality of service and customer side analytics, transitioned from demonstration to the proof of concept with a major retailer.” - Edgewater (February, 27, 2015 - MD&A)

Terry Matthews also founded Newbridge Netwrorks (acquired by Alcatel for $7B), this is where Andrew Skafel (current Edgewater CEO), Bert Whyte (Independent Director) and Claude Haw (Director, Edgewater/Dragonwave Inc.) used to work prior to Edgewater.

It seems as though this relationship/partnership with Tutela/Terry Matthews has been very valuable for Edgewater:

"[The Company] entered into two new market segments and began targeting high density WiFi application in the large retail and large enterprise segments." (from March, 28, 2014 - MD&A)

In doing some research on Terry Matthews, I came across this article called: "CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE BATTLE FOR HEARTS AND WALLETS"

https://www.wesleyclover.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Wesley-Clover-Newsletter-Customer-Engagement-02-15.pdf

This article seems to touch on some of the same points behind Edgewater's strategy that there is, "a growing need for leading retailers to enhance the shopping experience, combined with advances in marketing analytics (i.e. location based services), is driving an increased need for bandwidth dense WiFi networks in retail locations." (MD&A March, 28, 2014)

Always do your own DD. Would love to hear your guys thoughts! Take care & have a good weekend.
