Well, yes, I'm sure that they will do something productive with the land which they now have some control over.
Unfortunately, they don't (and didn't) have a Barkerville (mined out over the last 100-odd years) to resurrect, repopulate with hype and a rubbished, supposedly NI 43-101 compliant report and mined out gold to flog to the public over the last 20-odd years...$140-odd million in the last 20-odd million years, innit?).
They'll have to do something constructive, right? Maybe send all of the band members to Whistler to become skiers and then slide into mining promotion, hmmm??
That'd put the whole band into the higher end of the tax bracket and then they'd be supporting the rest of Canada directly for a change (instead of indirectly, as is the norm, by way of their land being looted with no benefit to them, except for the occasional day jobs cleaning up tailings dam spillage, hmmm?).
Ms. Batiste is a smart, smart lady. She and the band managed to get grants from U.S. based environmental groups to garner support in Canada, the US and Europe to stop Taseko.
In the face of deep-pocketed opposition from corporate insiders (who donated large lumps of money to the BC Liberal Party), from the BC Liberal party (which received those large lumps of money), they swayed public opinion and shut down something that you likely wouldn't have wanted in YOUR back yard.
