newbie with a serious question....

newbie with a serious question....For Tunee, probability25, bigask, others...   How do you guys decide when to get out of a previously good run?  What are signals you guys look for?  I held on through the correction from 1.17 to .94 when there was less good evidence for a positive re-bound than this round.  But if bad news came out now instead of good, it could be really nasty.   I have been in some stocks with solid financials that just tanked and stayed tanked (to the present time) for seemingly no good reason.   I have learned I cannot outlast the madness of the market.  So,  What are some tricks you have learned to recognize when to get out before it gets nasty?
