Guestlogix Inc. is closer to identifying a Stockhouse poster who called the company a sham and said it had a "windbag blow hard" chief executive officer. The company has won an order in the Supreme Court of British Columbia compelling the user's Internet provider, Rogers Communications Inc., to hand over his name, address and any other identifying information. The order was handed down on Thursday, April 30, after a brief court appearance.
The company previously obtained IP addresses for the user from Stockhouse. It then filed a petition filed at the Vancouver courthouse on April 22, 2015, to request the information from Rogers. The company explained that it was seeking the true name of a user named "fraudfinder" who created several defamatory posts on Stockhouse. The messages, which appeared in the Stockhouse forums between Feb. 23, 2015, and March 25, 2015, called the company a "pumped and dumped asset" and said its CEO would "manipulate numbers."
