Hersch yes you are lucky however....You do have a problem. If you convert now you become one of us "common" shareholders. You lose both the interest on your convertible as well as any priority you might have otherwise had in the event things go really sour for Connacher. My guess is you are wrong. That bondholders won't actually convert UNTIL they have a sense the company will in fact do better. If there is any chance Connacher is  a sinking ship ( in the current oil environment / with a new NDP goverment in Alberta)  why jump on board right away. Why not collect your interest payments in the meantime and watch to see if things in the oil patch improve first - BEFORE converting ?  That is what I think many in your position will do. Maybe even you....
