RE:Kidlapik

RE:KidlapikBeing a bit of a layman, hopefully not the only one here, on the subject of the drilling process, can someone please explain why frozen conditions are vital to the process when they are are on solid ground, as compared to being on a lake?  I believe I have a general idea, but when they are not drilling thru a body of water, I'm not exactly sure why it becomes a weather condition.  Thanks in advance!
