Some thoughtsWhile at the dock I had some good conversations with BG and most of them started and ended with the Routhwiller, we agreed all the time that he has to go, he has done his job and now it`s time for a good Captain to take us to the next level, this should have been done long ago but still time.
Now, the next level could be to get us ready for a buyout-sale or if the conditions permit to keep this boat sailing a while longer till things get really attractive for a better buyout-sale.
Lately he has been way off his delivery timeframes ( US launch, Canada launch, International launch and even naming one country of the international expansion as of PR of 10.5 months ago ).
His explanation of the working of the New Format has not satisfied anybody, we still don`t know how it really works.
Accountability and clearness still non existent, everything is confidential or with a confidentiality clause meaning that assumption is King, we are all Kings and that makes it hard to run a Kingdom.
He keeps on boasting of cuts to show value to shareholders but when you try to conquer the World you need a good Army a plan and the right weapons, not really the time to cut back.
Communication between Upper Management (which by the way it`s old and tired, the same names and faces for many tumultuous years with no value or respect given to SH),.
WE had a CC on April 30th ,again disappointing after having been billed as a Super Duper (we already covered it), but 9 days later we see two interview articles in which again management talks about Spain and Germany`s platforms being ready, really!!!, after consolidating the distribution network we plan to offer Sports events, we were the first to know about putting 3DLive on mothballs but apparently we do not need to know that now we are thinking of putting them back on line, thanks!!!, In addition, there are 14 million 3D TVs in North America and 140 million worldwide. According to data from Sensio, those with a 3D TV are watching an average of eight 3D films annually ,wow !!!!,.
Richard says that we have 25.000 clients in the USA, I imagine that`s the latest one as of May 20th?, which brings me as to why we weren`t told about the escalation to full completion of the USA launch to the end of March, nullifying a full two months from last quarter and one for the following, everybody was assuming decent numbers till we were told about the so called glitch.
And the beat goes on.
Marketing in spite of what people in this Board thinks still non existent, I don`t know what happened to the National “ Press Fair” but one or two articles does not cut it.
I opened the flyer from Best Buy yesterday and there was a full page on Cinema Now, Crave still bombarding with their commercials’
I called the three stores in the US and still nothing extra on the boxes or any Disney characters to push 3DGo and it`s been a few months.
I know I am if not alone one of very few that also think St Nick should go, especially since he also refuses to enlist the right help.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I also noticed what I call a mistake that should be corrected (it may cause people to buy the wrong TV model for now) saying that Samsung-3DGo being already available in the USA and Canada.
I noticed too, a couple of posts about down the road take overs or buyouts, that`s everybody`s hope, but there`s a long road ahead ,we`ll need a solid International launch with a good base members-rental which means excellent timing-execution, we`ll also need money, from 3DGo-LG, warrants, a mix of both with recurring royalties all and every penny, it`s not cheap to conquer the world.
WE are still a one horse race (LG), we wont see any real revenues from Samsung till Q3 at best, again assuming a Fall launch and even though they sell more than LG will they embrace 3D as much?.
I also noticed the mention of China, what once was called the Ace in the hole back in 2012 with the signing of TCL-Hisense to Global deals, both with ties to the government and the biggest TV Station, both with the Hi-Fi, with decent content to start and excellent one once Disney-Paramount were signed in March 2013.
We have had almost three years to break the barrier and ?? sad the way it was handled.
Who can or will make a move for SIO ?
Assuming we stay at 120.000.000 shares when all warrants are cashed, how much we`ll be worth?.
Will LG prove to be what they boast to be at home and internationally?.
Will Samsung come through with their active wear?.
Will we have to build Samsung their own platform?.
Will Panasonic make a better partner internationally?.
Will anybody else come in with the new format?.
Will the Chinese come back in or through?.
Whoever buys it will have to buy the whole loaf, you can`t buy 3DGo without SIO, something that Routhwiller said a few times, he`ll sell 3DGo but not SIO, unless he changed his mind again.
It got too complicated, PAN with it`s platform, LG with it`s platform, going by the last CC Samsung being a multi platform ,would they need their own?.
Vizio with the Hi-Fi.
The Chinese both have the Hi-Fi.
Is the new format the answer to all this?, we were not told.
So it will be hard to get a satisfying price unless all of this get sorted, even then and growing our Library to a decent number it`s hard to guess.
But we can use the $1.00 SP just for the sake, that gives us a $120.000.000 value, mmmmm.
Are we going to reach 100.000 members by year end and make sure that they rent at least 8 pictures each per year as SIO boasted on the last review?.
Even 50.000 doing that will not bring the riches dream by some once you take in consideration seasonal offers and the actual profit for SIO.
Lots of work ahead.
Also and ignored by many are the Studios, they own all the movies, we only have the rights for the length of the contract, you can end up with nothing the following renewal, very unlikely but possible.
When Netflix got some traction they signed a $5 billion with Paramout for 5 years, that`s only one Studio and there were exclusions and guidelines and there`s when they decided to create their own content and change the pricing as to VOD and mail delivery also adding some levels of renting that were not taken lightly by the members.
Confused read Cinemanow, Hulu and Amazon stories.
Some countries have different levels of taxation and content distribution, for example France can`t show a movie via VOD that isn`t at least two years old changed from three, taxes are yet more complex.
All things that SIO will have to contend, hard to do when you keep cutting costs but end up subcontracting everything to second parties with different agendas or priorities.
It`s not easy and I still believe we don`t have the right Captain.
Always IMHO.
