Torstar "A" shares vs. Torstar "B" sharesThe B shareholders of roughly 70 million shares have no vote and therefore no rights whatsoever regarding the running of the company . The A shareholders of roughly 10 million shares have all the votes and therefore run the company . My question would be " Why do the A shareholders care where the B shares trade " ? I understand that both the A and the B get the same dividend . My other question would be " If an A shareholder wanted to sell then what price would be established and to whom would they sell " . Could the A holders sell there shares privately for 25 dollars a share while we B holders are under 6 dollars . I am having trouble understanding how the B shareholders have any rights whatsoever in how the company is run and by whom . I think that is why we are under 6 dollars . If the dividend ever dropped , the B shares would probably take a dive . This is a very bizarre structural setup !
