RE:Grade: NXE vs FCU
"For those more schooled in the technicalities of mining U3O8, how important is grade at these already high levels? FCU: 1.58% (indicated, 43-101) NXE: 0.89% (estimated by Cantor) What difference does it make, value wise? I'm sure it's not as easy as simply saying that 1.58% is 77% higher than 0.89%, so would produce 77% more product. Yet, there must be some advantage, so what is it?"..................................................................................................It is all about cost per ton, nothing to do with who will produce more, the mine at .89% may have more tonnes in the ground and produce more, but all things being equal (which they never are) the mine with the high grade % will have lower costs, both lower mining costs and lower processing costs per pound of uranium being produced. They are both good grades and likely to produce good profits, it is just that higher grades are generally better.
