What interests me more than someone's personal financial track record is whether they have a track record of improving the performance of companies they affect/acquire, and consequently the fortunes of existing shareholders. I don't see issues with current management's conduct - they have been producing stellar results considering the down market in both their key sectors - oil and mining - and no doubt don't want to risk a hammer in the draw works. I am also risk averse but nonetheless will spend some time this weekend looking into the BG group, determine for myself whether they deserve to be supported or avoided.
