That would be part of it for sure - in addition to golden parachutes, holders of Bluestreak's paper (e.g. Wellington Funds) would want their pound of flesh as well.

Also important to the financing was shoring up the balance sheet to ensure that it was solid, especially in light of the major contractual commitments. When you're up competing against the likes of Cisco, Ericsson and Comcast, you don't want to look like you're operating on a shoestring!
