Fuel ready to be brought to Sendai nuclear reactor (July 4, 2015)

Japans Nuclear Regulation Authority has finished part of its pre-use inspection of the No. 1 reactor at Kyushu Electric Power Co.s Sendai nuclear plant, NRA officials said Friday. Fuel can thus be bought to the reactor, according to the officials. Kyushu Electric, which aims to resume the reactors operations in mid-August, plans to bring nuclear fuel to the reactor on Tuesday. The NRA is slated to carry out the rest of the inspection before the reactivation on July 23 and 24. Kyushu Electric initially planned to reactivate the No. 1 reactor at the plant in Kagoshima Prefecture early this month but pushed back the schedule after the NRA pointed to insufficient preparations. All nuclear power reactors in Japan have been offline. The Sendai No. 1 unit is expected to become the first to be brought back online.
