You can't camp out on a POET board (even this cesspool) and not know that all the problems cited on quora (a less renowned version of 'Yahoo! Answers' I'm guessing?) are being addressed with POET. The high cost and inconsistent processes cited are rendered moot with a CMOS-fab-friendly process such as POET.
The fact that GaAs is toxic probably doesn't stop you from carrying some around in your pocket every day in your cell phone.
At least Troufy likes your post. Although I find his credibility diminished (if that's even possible) given he praised a post entitled "POISON!" and then in the same paragraph, noted that Taylor has been working with the stuff for 30+ years! I guess it's not that dangerous after all...
The bottom line is that POET provides the first compound semi analog to silicon CMOS. Not being able to make complementary inverters in GaAs, is the real reason why the material has had limited uses.
