I read it as you read it. If he is terminated without cause, they owe him money. Nothing is mentioned if he is terminated with cause, but we can all assume that there would be nothing to be paid. But the with cause or without is obviously subjective. What if Simon and GMA disagree on the with or without?

The fact that he would still be a director is intriguing. If he did something really bad, I would presume that GMA would not want him around. But that is just a guessing game with infinite possibilities at this time.
