FP says CP Rail makes a controversial appointment 2015-07-23 09:26 ET - In the News See In the News (C-CP) Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd The Financial Post reports in its Thursday, July 23, edition that Rebecca MacDonald, who was appointed head of Canadian Pacific Railway's corporate governance committee on Tuesday, has spent years weathering allegations of deceptive sales tactics and questionable accounting practices at Just Energy Group, where she is the company's founder and executive chairman. The Post's Kristine Owram writes that Ms. MacDonald's appointment follows the resignation of chairman Gary Colter and director Krystyna Hoeg over "disagreements relating to corporate governance matters." CP says, "The board unanimously accepted their resignations." Replacing Mr. Colter as chairman is Andrew Reardon. Ms. MacDonald is replacing Ms. Hoeg on CP's corporate governance and nominating committee. Ms. MacDonald has sat on the board since May, 2012. CP spokesman Marty Cej says Ms. MacDonald's appointment was unanimous. Mr. Cej says, "She has the full faith and confidence of the board." When Accountability Research forensic accountant Al Rosen heard of Ms. MacDonald's latest appointment, he said he was "stunned." He said, "You talk about governance and she's got to be the weakest person on the CP board to understand that type of role."
