RE:RE:Finally found the thesis.
RE:RE:Finally found the thesis.pssst. Don't tell anyone but we might find colored diamonds in a larger sample. (Oiltar pink diamonds are mentioned on page 28 -albeit next to the word brown). The "dark yellow" diamonds the author refers to look very close to being saturated enough with color to be fancy IMO.
CH diamonds are high in nitrogen which is causing an abundance of clear diamonds since there are 2 N atoms in each lattice.
The yellow fancies are caused by only a single nitrogen atom in each lattice. Thus it is possible that we will find fancy yellow in larger samples.
Not material in my opinion. The abundance of good quality clear diamonds are the meat and potatoes of this mine. Not the possibility of fancies. Besides I can only see them finding these fancies when they go in to production. So I can't see the threat of fancies having an impact on the SP before mining commences.
Also note the mention of that mantle hotspot I mentioned in past posts. This hotspot is responsible for the Attawapiskat and Timaskimiming kimberlites (along with others that the world doesn't know about yet hehe). First I have heard of a meteor associated with this hotspot.
Based on the similarities to Victor diamonds, you would have to say fancy yellow diamonds will not be found. Who knows. Yellow diamonds are an inexact science because we don't have enough data. De Beers never owned the mines that produced yellow or pink diamonds.
