HI HO SILVER PROVIDES PHOTO OF ITS PLUGGER HILL NICKEL SHOWING SITE AND COMMENTS ON STAKING ACTIVITY IN THE LABRADOR NICKEL BELT
Hi Ho Silver Resources Inc. has obtained a historical photo of the Plugger Hill nickel-showing area in the Labrador nickel belt of Canada from historical photos posted by Cornerstone Resources in the 1960s era. View the photo at the company's website.
Hi Ho's land on this site consists of one claim block south of the Garland Project of Equitas Resources Corp. (EQT). This area lies approximately 30km south of the Voisey's Bay Nickel Mine.
This historical photo illustrates the rusty outcroppings on the flank of the major topographic feature designated Plugger Hill. This is the location of Hi Ho's 100% owned Plugger Hill nickel occurrence (see Hi Ho Press Release of April 8, 2015), which is 2.5km south of the Equitas Resources' Garland Project. The photo will be posted on the Company's website.
The Plugger Hill geology was described by Makela (1962) in Inco's assessment filings on the target as filed with the Department of Mines and Energy of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador as follows:
"Reconnaissance mapping by ITSL in 2000 defined a large area of inclusion-bearing granites and granitic breccias in the Garland Lake area. The >20 km2 footprint of this event has a general northwest-southeast orientation. Within this footprint at Plugger Hill is a zone of mafic intrusive breccia lying mostly below but locally interfingered with the granitic breccia. Ferro-gabbro to olivine gabbro to locally augite troctolite is present in a 60 m thick exposure of sub-horizontally stacked intervals of inclusion packed and inclusion free horizons. Breccia fragments consist of sulphidic paragneiss, anorthosite, quartzofeldspathic gneiss and gabbro. High temperature assimilation of the inclusions is evident. Sulphides consisting of Po-Py-Cp are weakly disseminated throughout. This environment is analogous in many respects to VBIC Basal Breccia Sequence (BBS) or Variably Textured Troctolite (VTT) developed at thejunction of a feeder conduit with the Eastern Deeps chamber environment."
Recent staking activity has accelerated in the Labrador Nickel Belt based on renewed interest in nickel exploration in this prominent nickel production area. Strike Diamond Corp. has acquired a land position on the east flank of the Equitas Garland Project where Hi Ho's most recent acquisition is also located. A number of other land positions have been staked with the ownership still being established.
More deeply penetrating geophysical surveys that are now available may allow detection of potential deep sulphide masses developed below the complex surface geology described above.
The technical and scientific data in this news release was approved by Dr. Stewart Jackson, PGeo., a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
About the Labrador Nickel Belt
VALE is mining nickel at the Voisey's Bay Mine approximately 30km northwest of the Hi Ho project area. A Newfoundland Department of Natural Resources Paper by R. Kerr (2001) stated "...Potential for further discoveries remains in the immediate Voisey's Bay area.." Recognition of this potential is stimulating the current activity.
