Yes, I was there. I’ll admit I found this invite kind of misleading as I’d thought feedback of some sort or answers would be offered to those that attended and participated, with questions. Something or anything at all would of made the attendance – more worthwhile.

Zip – nothing. Zero. Nada. In fact Peter Milobar stated no applause can be given (or jeering) and just 3 mins per citizen participating to voice their questions or concerns. With the temperance of this meeting now established, it was absolutely “deadsville” after questions were posed to Mayor and council. No answers, not a thought, not an opinion shared, not a morsel and definitely NO SLR consulting (the experts) to provide any answers and insight.

I am in favor of this Ajax Mine – for Kamloops, if approved. Unfortunately, any citizen that attended and/or participated (and endured) this 4 hour sit-down, left with “no more knowledge” than they came with. Again, Zip. Essentially, this was a boring and monotonousness event to endure because all that were in attendance left without any thoughts being shared, or an answer being provided or even an opinion – being offered.

There must be many others that feel this way, and may of left this meeting – feeling likewise. I noted, many left half way through after the first break and did not return for the rest of the 4 hour Q & A, because without any A (answers to questions) or feedback – why stay ?

Les….did you not hear what the itinerary would be ?…it went exactly as the City stated it would go…..3 minutes to beak off….submit your “question”….and let the process continue. They are not in any position to answer your questions as they are not part of the assessment process or with KGHM, are they ? That was it. It was not the usual free-for-all b***h fest that usually accompanies any public meeting. What did you expect the City to do ?

I guess you missed all the articles about the purpose of the meeting beforehand. Surprising since you posted about them. It was very obvious that the point was to guide the consultants work and that answers wouldn’t be available right away.

The most interesting part of the meeting was the green tags identifying the pro ajax supporters. Their PR seems to have only worked on the weak minded and gullible. The groans were audible whenever a green card wearing supporter walked up to the mike to ramble on about jobs in Alberta just like the other supporters before them. I can only assume their goal was to waste every ones time and prevent serious questions from being asked. Fortunately the city was smart enough to allow for online submissions.

Typical whining and moronic questions from the No Mines….I’ll agree with the developer….it’s amazing that anything will ever be built here again. Domtar is concerned about their tax rates…as are other businesses, the City is trying to put the squeeze on New Gold, in a bid to increase tax dollars, so I really hope that if this mine is NOT approved, any tax hikes on the backs of the public, will first be collected from the aforementioned…No Mines. Hey don’t want to see the mine ?…fine, pay higher taxes with your own cash, first…ok ? The City can start with Krappa and their fellow travelers. (“Bronwen Scott asked the city to find out whether KGHM could ever build a smelter at the mine, either during operation or to extend its life, a question she said the company has never definitively answered.”) Jesus wept, Bronwen….how many smelters have been built in Canada in the last 50 years ? (not too many) Why is that ? (because of people such as yourself….who will be the first in line to protest that, right ?) This is the typical “Green” question that May continually asks….”why don’t we refine our oil and smelt our minerals so we can sell them at a higher price” ? (because you have NO clue, Liz…et al ) Have a nice day…

I attended the meeting. There was a list of 211 questions posed by the city, 90 of which had “not been previously asked”. What I want to know is why, after a lengthy consultation period between the mine proponents and the public is the city adding “new” questions to their list? Where have they been the last few years?
From some of the questions the city has posed, it appears the city expects the KGHM to solve problems the city itself cannot, such as the local doctor shortage.
