RE:RE:RE:Nasdaq Market Cap $10 trillion a consolidation changes nothing but the number of shares, initially. but if the stock is not moving at 40¢, a $4 share price will meet more resistance from buyers as the stock now looks more expensive. the risk seems larger, and the consolidation will appear as an act of desperation.
to add insult to injury, should it go through at 34¢, that would amount to a 15% slap in the face to shareholders, new money would definitely not look too kindly at a company who would do this to its shareholders. in the last month, most companies that cut their dividends were punished by the market, this would be a far bigger negative than that, and the effect likely more severe.
it is a matter of image, and a poorly recieved image will have a negative impact on share price, right or wrong, it will be what the buyers are willing to pay.
