With BlackBerry confirming in its earnings report that the Priv smartphone is in development, attention is now focused on the features that the device will come with. The latest leak that emerged shows that it will have the ability to record videos in 4K resolution, which is slowly becoming a common feature in many top-of-the-line smartphones.
The upcoming BlackBerry device has been featured in leaks for several months and it was originally codenamed Venice. Now, its official name has been revealed as the Priv and TechRadar states that the latest leak shows that it will be able to record 4K videos at the rate of 30 fps.
There is also a sliding keyboard on the device and it can be moved under the screen when not in use. Also, official images released on the BlackBerry blog show that it has a curved screen that flows over its right and left edges. This, undoubtedly, is going to give the handset an edge in the design department as curved screen smartphones generally look better than those with standard bezels or even very narrow bezels.
As for the other major features, the BlackBerry Priv is said to run Android instead of the BlackBerry OS which has so far been featured on smartphones from the company. This is a big departure for Blackberry and it clearly indicates that the Android and iOS operating systems have overtaken others in the market and are more popular.
However, Blackberry Priv is likely to focus on maintaining the privacy of the user which is an important component of the BlackBerry OS. Many expect that among the features of the BlackBerry Priv is the ability to wipe the memory of the device from a remote location, to be layered onto the basic Android OS. Also users will be able to create separate profiles for work-related activities and personal activities on the handset.
