Why does a big pharma medical device manufacturer need a reseller to distribute its products?
This question is just too basic to answer but I’ll give it a try. Most manufacturers, medical devices or any other product, will always try to work with resellers and distributors to be able to reach as many customers as possible while maintaining focus on their main business which is manufacturing.
Why the low employee count at MSD?
MSD is running on a super lean business plan. The company only has a few full time employees and relies on top line contractors for any software changes, new features, or to integrate new devices (It should be noted that MSDs CEO has made really solid relationships with professional that are at the top of their game all over the world). Contractors are engaged based on their skillset and the work that is needed. This flexibility is a key success factor and a very unique advantage that MSD has.
This level of agility and flexibility makes MSD able to integrate a new device or make customised features (based on customer requirements) in record time without having an army of techies on the payroll.
