Sierra Metals Reports Reduced Silver, Copper Production for Q3less than 1 minute ago

09:00 AM EDT, 10/16/2015 (MT Newswires) -- Mining company Sierra Metals (SMT.TO) late Thursday reported production of 2.4 million silver equivalent ounces and 16.2 million copper equivalent pounds for Q3 2015, both representing a year-over-year decrease of 18%.

The firm said the decline was a result of reduced plant throughput of 14% at its Yauricocha Mine in Peru, which was partially offset by the increase in throughput at its Cusi and Bolivar Mines. The decrease in throughput at Yauricocha was due to additional work being performed to drill drainage holes to de-water certain areas of the Mine.

SMT shares last matched $1.22, at the bottom half of 52-week range $0.84 - $2.13.
