RE:RE:Why would Freeport sell?I don't believe there is any chance that Freeport sells this property. They are divesting from their oil and gas businesses, which were what were ultimately responsible for their problems in the first place an refocussing on their core mining businesses, so I just can't see why they would walk away from the most exciting discovery in the last 50 years. Their lease on Grasberg expires in 2021, and they are also on the hook for building a $2B smelter in Indonesia which I am certain they do not want to pay for, and given the problems they have had in Indonesia over the last 10 years they might be looking to get out of that region, but to do so they need to replace their inventory. Timok might just give them the flexibility to do so, in a much more mining friendly jurisdiction with infrastructure in place. My thinking is that they are fast tracking this to understand how big the porphyry is so they can better ubnderstand their strategic options going forward.
