RE:RE:Economic Kimberlites
EKIM is right on all points. The focus now is to confirm enough of a resource - in a small enough area - to move ahead to a full economic assesment and probaly to bring on some major mining companies to run the project.
If that is successful, they have a few year of mining ahead of themselves. During that time known targets will be tested, retested, new targets found that will push the mine life out. THis is the model BHP had at EKAti and it just makes good sense.
Its good to sell the proejct/partnership to a major with the "hope" that more economic kimberlites are out there to be found.
The worlds major mining houses will need a diamond asset or two in their portfolio - nickle, iron, copper etc are not turinging much of a profit these days - but diamonds will still. I think Rio will have an appetite for more diamonds projects in the near future - and peregrines projects seems likely to fit the bill.
