RE:Patent portfolioI have been in security industry for over 25 years, owned and operated very succulent and respected company clients typically came to me and that includes Gov.
inhave been using analytics since 1994. Watched all the players promote it. Seen response as well
i believe in the technology and what it can do for "security". Feds use it for facial etc. I know of no company ( existing private) companies who use it or will truly use it. It's a novelty for them and they will not spend the money to fully implement. You have guards who barely know what they are doing handing out keys to cleaners and a cameras are seldom watched now. They already have great in line video motion alerting them to people in a hallways or loading dock and they don't even use that
market has always been in high end gov, customs, at airports, military and in retail
smart retail uses it to monitor traffic / shopper patterns. How long people linger at a new display versus old etc.
So so they will continue to use it but 99% of camera users will not utilize all the bells and whistles they are promoting. I say this based on my love of the technology but my equally honest appraisal of how little of it that is used.
Was it as it worth the purchase I have no idea. Seeing as AVO doesn't wish to reveal their ROI on it, it's all a guess.
I beleive that that long term it is good investment but it will take time for it to pay off. As code and all the legal issues you rightfully mention are ongoing, picking the company to invest in and at what price is in my opinion a pure casino bet. Great idea but who and how long before payback
