Dissenting opinions should be encouraged because it stimulates debate and discussion. The problem arises when someone takes it as personal insult when someone disagrees with them and they immediately become abusive and go into attack mode. That's harmful and destructive. Regardless of whether you're a glass half-full or half-empty person, the important thing is to be constructive and respectful.
