RE:Deflation / Canadian Market

RE:Deflation / Canadian MarketI can't speak for everyone, but as a casual smoker, i'd much prefer buying my weed at a premium through a licensed outlet rather than having to grow it myself or find a grower.

You're right that some people will prefer to grow it themselves and/or source it from independent growers, but I think that will be a niche group of connoisseurs rather than the mainstream. It's perfectly legal (and much cheaper) to brew your own beer/wine/spirits at home right now but you don't see the LCBO suffering...plus, it takes way more time, resources and experties to grow weed than it does to brew beer, so I just don't see the average smoker wanting to grow their own. And I guarantee you that, like with every other industry, people will be much more likely to buy something in that uses flashy marketing/branding rather than just grab a homegrown dimebag down the street.

Also, and probably most importantly, a licensed outlet offers a level of variety that an independent producer will never be able to match. Just like with booze, you'll be able to get weed in a wide variety of sizes (buying a prerolled joint  vs a pound), a wide variety of strains, and in a wide variety of formats (edibles, smokables, drinkables...patches?).
